Greetings from the sunny BCN, where today the rain fall over and tomorrow the air will smell clean and healthy 🙂

It’s been a hard month preparing the new SD image, but finally it’s here. Its name is Gorgona!

If you already have a Zynthian Box,  i’m pretty sure you would like to try Gorgona right now. You can choose between two different versions, compiled for RBPi3 and RBPi2:

Summer Synths & Swimming Sounds – Newsletter #1, August 2016

Greetings from MasFort, in Reus, where time passes slowly and tomatoes grow fast! 😉 I hope you are enjoying the summer and recharging your batteries for the coming season.

zynthian-basket-02

A little over a year ago I mounted the first Zynthian prototype and since then many things have happened. The software and hardware have evolved a lot and people around the world are building Zynthian Boxes. The project has grown and a small community of users and supporters is borning. It is time to meditate a little bit and consider new goals.

Among these goals is sending a newsletter, more or less regularly, to keep you informed of progress and news about the project. Let’s go there!

Zynthian Project will be in SONAR+D (Barcelona 16,17, 18 June)

Zynthian Project will take part in SONAR+D, the event organized during the SONAR Music Festival, in Barcelona, from 16 to 18 June.

We will have a nice stand where we will showcase our prototypes, make demos and explain the project to the assistant public. It will be a very good ocassion to make useful contacts and attract interested people to the project.

The Zynthian Emulator

IMPORTANT: Comments are closed in this post, please, use the forum.

Developing software for Zynthian is slighty more complex than developing software for a desktop platform. You need a Zynthian Box (ZBox) over your desk running all the time and connected to the network. You must login by ssh everytime you reboot the ZBox. Every time you want to test your changes, you have to copy the modified files into the ZBox, compile if needed, and run the program from the shell.

This cycle makes development slower than normal, and although you use scripts and tools to agilize the process, finally you realize that there is a better way 😉

New Website and Video

As I said in the previous post,  we have been very busy the past few weeks working in the new website and a short video presentation for Zynthian, among others.
Finally, both tasks are finished … or almost finished. There are still things to improve and details to fix, of course, but we will do it on the way. We don’t want to wait more time. Here is the video:

The new beautiful website remains in the same URL, of course, so you can visit it at:

Also, we have a new GitHub site, with a better structure and reorganized repositories:

In the next days, i will introduce you the new Zynthian Emulator …

Stay tuned!!

Making of a video presentation

Last weekend we have been filming a video presentation for Zynthian. A short video of about 1-2 minutes to introduce Zynthian. It’s intended to be in the top of project’s website, that will be ready in the next weeks.

Filming that kind of video is not an easy task. You need expert people, good material and a clean environment. Dust is your enemy. Everybody have to be immobile while filming because vibrations of steps are easily transmitted to the camera, especially if you try to do some kind of traveling, etc.

Building a Zynthian Box

IMPORTANT: The information in this post is outdated. Please, if you want a guide for mounting your Zynthian Box, this wiki tutorial is the best reference AFAIK 😉

Comments are closed in this post, please, use the forum to comment.

Now that Zynthian Box specification is, more or less, closed, i would like to share with you the Bill of Materials and some advice about bulding your own Zynthian Box. I would like that other people build his own Zynthian Box and help me with software development 😉

The list is composed of generic parts and specifically designed parts. All these specifically designed parts are called Zynthian Parts. You can build  these parts by yourself using the specifications, schemes and PCB designs, or you can contact me. I will try to make these parts available at a reasonable price._1020468_fixed

What is Zynthian?

IMPORTANT: Comments are closed in this post, please, use the forum.

Zynthian is an Open Synth Platform based in Raspberry Pi, some Open Software Synthesizers and more.

I’m trying to integrate all the parts in a realiable case with a nice and ergonomic User Interface, so everybody can enjoy this wonderful synthesizers in any place without having to install or configure anything.

When it’s finished, i would like to make it available for everybody, as a toolkit or as a finished product, so you can use it for Live Playing, Music Production or any kind of experimentation.

Of course, all the specifications will be freely available, so you can build your own device if you prefer 😉
